I have been busy photographing interiors with Barratt Homes again this week after the success of our last shoot. This week I was documenting their beautifully presented show homes in Leicester, Weddington and North Hykenham. View the latest images here, and visit a show home.

I am excited to be working closely with the UK’s largest housebuilder Barratt Homes to document projects across the Midlands. I have used a careful combination of location lighting kit and techniques (see previous post) to improve on ambient light, highlighting the attributes of each room. View images here.

I recently invested in a location lighting kit for interiors. Three powerful monolights, a huge softbox, umbrellas, reflectors and attention to detail will be used to mimic daylight; creating soft ‘window’ light in poorly lit showrooms, making the sun shine on cloudy days and improving on any ambient lighting situation. The kit synchronises with small off-camera flashguns where space is limited for versatility in any situation.

This makes commissioning more affordable by avoiding third-party hire fees totalling at least £160 per day.

I had the pleasure of working closely with Wolfgang Buttress to photograph his latest project – Corona. The brise soleil uses NASA satellites to monitor solar flares which provides feedback through fibre optic cables. We were on site from pre-dawn to capture the installation in the changing ambient light. View images here.

This year The Serpentine Pavilion was designed by Bjarke Ingels – an ‘unzipped wall’ of fibreglass cubes. The light-play and transparency changes the structure from visually heavy to weightless and transparent depending on the viewpoint.Click here to view.

I recently photographed the interior of Foster’s amazing London City Hall. The atrium is an overwhelming corkscrew traversing almost the entire height of the building, one of the most intense interiors I have experienced – and extremely rewarding when photographed. Click Here to view.
